Routine blood tests measure various levels and markers that help assess your overall physical health. Your Peak Health lab testing includes the following labs:
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Lipid Profile
Complete Blood Count (CBC) w/ Differential
Thyroid Panel
These tests are utilized to assess and monitor your health risks related to potential conditions and diseases that could impact your overall health and well-being. Understanding what your labs mean and knowing your numbers is an opportunity to take control of your health by taking action on modifiable factors that can lead to poor health, if not addressed.
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
A comprehensive metabolic panel is a helpful and common test that measures your body's chemical balance and metabolism. Metabolism is the process of how the body uses food and energy.
This panel measures 14 different substances in the blood to check several body functions, including:
Your liver and kidney health
The acid and base balance in your blood
Your blood sugar levels
Your fluid and electrolyte balance
If any single CMP result or a combination of results is not normal, it may indicate — but not guarantee — many different health conditions, including:
Liver disease
Kidney disease
Diabetes
High blood pressure (hypertension)
If you have an abnormal result, your healthcare provider may have you undergo additional tests to confirm or rule out a specific diagnosis. If you have questions about your results, don’t be afraid to talk to your provider.
Lipid Profile
A lipid profile is a group of blood tests used to measure the levels of various lipids and thereby assess the risk for heart disease and stroke. A lipid panel includes three
measurements of your cholesterol levels, a measurement of your triglycerides, and the ratio of your total cholesterol to HDL.
This panel is utilized by healthcare providers to:
Routinely monitor if your levels are normal or if levels fall into borderline-, intermediate- or high-risk categories
Compare with previous abnormal results or to determine if you have other risks factors for heart disease or stroke
Assess your body’s response to treatment, such as cholesterol medications or lifestyle changes
Complete Blood Count (CBC) with Differential
A complete blood count (CBC) is a blood test used to look at overall health and to find a wide range of diseases, cancers, vitamin deficiencies and conditions, including anemia and infection.
This panel measures the following:
Red blood cells (RBC), which carry oxygen
White blood cells (WBC), which fight infection
Hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells
Hematocrit, the amount of red blood cells in the blood
Platelets, which help blood to clot
Thyroid Panel
A thyroid panel is a group of tests that are ordered together to help evaluate thyroid gland function and to help assess risk related to thyroid disorders. The tests included in a thyroid panel measure the amount of thyroid hormones in the blood. The
thyroid gland processes hormones that regulate your body's metabolism (weight, temperature, energy).
If any single thyroid result, or a combination of results is not normal, it may indicate the need for further assessment of different health conditions such as:
Hypothyroidism
Hyperthyroidism
Goiters
Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid Nodules/Tumors
Thyroiditis
If you have questions about any of your lab results, don't hesitate to speak with your health care provider about them, even if you discuss them with your Peak Health nurse.
